The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has raised the target of agro-forestry-fishery export revenue to $57-58 billion for 2024.
The ministry’s forecast was based on the positive results of the sector in the first half of the year.
Total agro-forestry-fishery export value in the first half reached $29.2 billion, a year-on-year growth of 19%, the ministry reported at a meeting held on July 5 to review the achievements of the sector in the first six months.
The sector posted a GDP growth of 3.38% year-on-year, the highest result compared to the six-month periods of the past five years. Of which, the GDP of the agriculture sector rose 3.15%; the forestry sector 5.34%; and the fishery sector 3.76%.
The GDP growth of the whole sector is expected at 3.2-4% for the whole year.
