The investor of a pedestrian bridge crossing the Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City plans to submit the project to the municipal People’s Committee for approval in June, according to the city’s Department of Transport.
It will be located between Ba Son Bridge and the Saigon River Tunnel. One end will be at Bach Dang Wharf Park in District 1 and the other in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area in Thu Duc city.
The bridge is for pedestrians and special-use vehicles of disabled. All business activities are prohibited on the bridge.
The project has an estimated investment capital of VND1 trillion ($39 million).
Construction is scheduled to start on April 30, 2025 and to be completed by 2027.
The bridge takes the shape of a mangrove palm leaf, optimizing the pillar systems on the river bed and near the riverbanks to create a high navigational clearance.
The design was created by a joint venture between Chodai-Takashi Niwa Architects and the Chodai- Kiso Jiban Vietnam Company Limited.
