The Ministry of Transport has proposed that the government increase the investment capital set aside for the My Thuan - Can Tho expressway section by nearly VND999 billion ($41.6 million).
This would bring the total investment in the section to over VND5.8 trillion ($241 million).
The 23-km section passes through the Mekong Delta provinces of Dong Thap and Vinh Long and is part of the Eastern North-South Expressway. It will have four lanes and a speed limit of 80 kph in the first phase.
It was completed and opened to traffic in late December, but certain related works are yet to be completed.
The additional capital will be invested in completing auxiliary works along the section, including the construction of an intersection linking Vo Van Kiet Road and a provincial road connected to the expressway.
Construction of the auxiliary works is expected to be completed before June 30.
