Ho Chi Minh City plans to propose the Ministry of Planning and Investment to allocate VND1.368 trillion ($54.7 million) from the central budget for site clearance, compensation and resettlement for the HCM City-Moc Bai expressway project.

The project has a total length of around 50.9 km in the first phase, connecting the southern city to Moc Bai International Border Gate in southern Tay Ninh province, which borders Cambodia.

Total investment capital (first phase) is estimated at over VND19.6 trillion ($770 million), with 49.31% to be sourced from the central budget.

Under the proposed project, nearly half of the expressway or 24.66 km will run through HCM City.

The expressway will have four lanes with a roadbed width of 25.5 m, allowing a maximum speed of 120 kph.

Construction of the first phase will be divided into four sub-projects and is scheduled to start in June, 2025, and is expected for completion by 2027.
