Total export turnover in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries products in the first five months of this year reached $4.85 billion, a year-on-year decline of 3.5 per cent, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Of this, farm produce posted revenue of $2.47 billion, a year-on-year increase of 27.8 per cent, husbandry $44 million, up 25.5 per cent, seafood $900 million, down 14.4 per cent, and forestry $1.31 billion, down 12.3 per cent.
Products recording higher export value year-on-year included coffee, with $2.02 billion, up 0.2 per cent, fruit and vegetables $1.97 billion, up 39 per cent, cashew nuts $1.28 million, up 5.5 per cent, and rice $2.02 billion, up 49 per cent.
The sector posted a trade surplus of $3.55 billion in the period, down 21.1 per cent year-on-year.
China, the US, and Japan continued to be the leading three export markets, accounting for 20.4 per cent, 19.8 per cent, and 7.8 per cent, respectively, of the total export value.
