More than 111,500 Vietnamese people headed overseas to work in the first nine months of this year, equal to 108.23 per cent of the figure in the same period last year, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) has reported.
It also exceeded the annual target of 110,000 workers.
Japan continued to be the leading destination for Vietnamese workers, welcoming 55,690, followed by Taiwan (China) with 46,166, South Korea 2,449, and China 1,361.
Apart from maintaining its traditional labor export markets, MoLISA has also promoted new markets, particularly those in Europe such as Germany, Greece, and Hungary, to create more opportunities for Vietnamese to work overseas.
