Total newly-registered and additional overseas investment from Vietnamese companies stood at $398.3 million in the first nine months of 2022, equal to 69.6 per cent of the figure in the same period of 2021, according to data from the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Newly-registered capital rose sharply year-on-year due to five major projects from the Vines Energy Solutions Joint Stock Company in the US, Canada, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, with capital of more than $34.68 million each.
Eighty overseas investment projects were granted investment certificates in the period, with total registered capital of over $347.3 million, up 2.31-fold year-on-year. Fifteen existing projects added capital of over $50.9 million, equal to 12 per cent of the same figure last year.
Vietnam now has 1,584 valid overseas investment projects with total capital of over $21.6 billion in 78 countries and territories.
Companies invested in 13 industries overseas in the period. Processing and manufacturing led the way, with eleven new projects and total capital of over $291.6 million, or 55.2 per cent of total capital.
Twenty-four countries and territories received investment from Vietnamese companies in the first nine months. Laos led with four new projects and three adding capital, with total registered capital of Vietnamese investors standing at $66.42 million, or 16.7 per cent of all overseas investment in the period.
