A 3-km residential access road running along the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway opened to traffic on September 17, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport.
The road links Nguyen Thi Dinh Road with Do Xuan Hop Road in the city’s Thu Duc city.
Construction began in 2017, with the road divided into two sections. The first is nearly 3-km long and the second is nearly 700 meters, both with four lanes.
The second section, connecting Do Xuan Hop Road and Ring Road No. 2, is yet to be completed due to obstacles in site clearance.
Total investment for the access road is estimated at nearly VND870 billion ($36.25 million).
The access road will significantly ease traffic in the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, which is currently struggling with congestion due to the ongoing construction of the An Phu interchange that connects Mai Chi Tho Avenue and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, according to Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Transport Phan Cong Bang.
