Vietnam needs to build an additional 1,300 km of expressways over the next three years to reach its target of 3,000 km by 2025, according to Head of the Construction Investment Management Department at the Ministry of Transport Le Quyet Tien.
Speaking at a conference on June 1 with localities to share experience in building expressways, Mr. Tien said the total length of expressways now stands at 1,729 km.
In order to fulfill the target, in 2022 the government submitted to the National Assembly for approval of six expressway projects with a total length of 1,300 km. Investment is estimated at nearly VND400 trillion ($16.8 billion).
Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho said great effort and determination from ministries, agencies, and localities are required in project implementation if the target is to be met.
