According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, agro-forestry-fishery export turnover in August reached an estimated $6.47 billion, down 3.5 percent month-on-month but up 3.6 percent year-on-year, bringing the sector's total export turnover in the first eight months of 2026 to nearly $49.31 billion, a 7 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Strong breakthroughs in fruits and vegetables, livestock, and seafood helped maintain positive momentum for the sector, even as key commodity prices declined.

In the eight-month period, by sector, agricultural products generated $25.66 billion, up 2.7 percent year-on-year, while forest products reached $12.57 billion, up 5.4 percent. Seafood hit $7.94 billion, rising 10.9 percent, and production inputs totaled $2.61 billion, surging 64.8 percent. Livestock products reached $511.9 million, up 30 percent, while salt exports reached $10.4 million, climbing 44.4 percent.

During the period, Asia remained Vietnam’s largest regional export market, accounting for 45.5 percent of total market share with export value up 11.3 percent year-on-year. The Americas followed with 21.5 percent, up 0.6 percent, and Europe held 13.4 percent, up 1.7 percent. Oceania represented 1.5 percent, up 16.4 percent, while exports to Africa held 2.3 percent, down 18.3 percent.

By single country in January-August, China led with a 22.7 percent market share as export value surged 22.1 percent year-on-year. The United States ranked second with 19.1 percent, down 0.4 percent, and Japan accounted for 6.8 percent, up 2 percent.

Addressing commodity-level performance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment noted that coffee, rubber, and rice experienced declines in export value. Specifically, coffee exports in August reached an estimated 123,800 tones, valued at $545.6 million.

In January-August, total coffee exports reached 1.3 million tones, worth $6 billion, up 13.1 percent in volume but down 9.1 percent in value year-on-year. Germany, Italy, and Japan remained key destinations.
