Apple has announced that the Apple Pay mobile payment service was officially debuted in Vietnam on August 8.
Customers in Vietnam can now use Apple Pay on iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.
The launch offers an easy, secure, and private way for Apple customers to pay for everything in daily life, including transactions at large and small retail stores, in-app, and on the web.
Apple Pay brings more speed and convenience to customers’ lives, whether they’re buying coffee at Rang Rang Coffee, grocery shopping at Annam Gourmet, or shopping online on Shopee.
A number of Vietnamese banks are now supporting the use of Apple Pay services, such as Vietcombank, Sacombank, Techcombank, VPBank, and MBBank. They therefore allow users to easily link their bank credit and debit card information to the Apple Pay platform via Apple Wallet or the dedicated app.
Moreover, individuals who use an Apple Watch with their iPhone will also be able to independently make secure payments.
“Contactless payments are slowly becoming an important part of our customers’ daily lives in Vietnam, and today we’re excited to bring Apple Pay to Vietnam as well as providing customers with an easy, secure, and private payment method across Apple devices,” said Ms. Jennifer Bailey, Vice President in charge of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet at Apple. “Whether they’re tapping to pay at leading stores, or shopping securely online with retailers on their favorite e-commerce platforms and apps, we think Apple Pay will fit into the daily routine of Vietnamese customers seamlessly.”
Notably, Visa brings its cardholders Apple Pay, a safer, secure, and private way to pay that helps them avoid handing their payment card to someone else, touching physical buttons or exchanging cash, and uses the power of the iPhone to protect every transaction.
Visa cardholders from participating banks need simply double click and hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal to make a contactless payment.
The launch of Apple Pay marks a significant milestone in the advancement of cashless payments in Vietnam. Customers can now use Apple Pay with their Visa card and experience a seamless and secure payment method, further enhancing the convenience of digital transactions.
“With the growth of mobile contactless payments in Vietnam, we think consumers will immediately embrace the convenience and security that Apple Pay offers,” said Ms. Dung Dang, Visa Country Manager of Vietnam and Laos. “Customers can add their Visa cards to Apple Pay in just a few simple steps before enjoying the added benefits of a contactless payment experience that is both seamless and highly secure.”
