Australia plans to receive about 1,000 Vietnamese workers each year to work in agriculture, starting from 2024.

This falls under an MoU signed between the two countries on March 1 in Hanoi within the Australian Agriculture Visa Program.

Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan and Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Andrew Goledzinowski, signed the MoU on behalf of the two countries’ governments.

A plan to implement the MoU was announced in the Australian capital Canberra on March 7 during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to the country.

The Australian Agriculture Visa Program is intended to provide a sustainable, long-term contribution to Australia’s workforce that supports its agricultural and primary industry sectors.

Under the program, employees will be recruited to work across a range of agriculture sectors, including horticulture, dairy, wool, grains, fisheries, and forestry, including support services and primary processing.
