Northern Bac Ninh province is calling for investment in the areas of information and communications technology, digital technology, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and new materials to become a hub for industrial and hi-tech development, the Voice of Vietnam has reported.
“And these are areas where Japan has strengths,” Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan told the “Meet Bac Ninh - Japan” program held in the northern province on November 17.
According to Mr. Tuan, among the 39 countries and territories investing in Bac Ninh, Japan has invested in 100 FDI projects, mostly in the fields of electronic component manufacturing and mechanical engineering, with combined registered capital of over $1.67 billion, or nearly 7 per cent of the province’s total investment capital.
He proposed that the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) continue providing Japanese enterprises with information on the local business environment and ask existing investors to help attract others.
Within the “Meet Bac Ninh - Japan” program, the Provincial People’s Committee and Japan’s Nihon Toyo signed an MoU.
