The Construction Investment Project Management Board in central Quang Tri province is inviting bids to select investors for the construction of Quang Tri Airport in the build-operate-transfer (BOT) mode.

Total investment for the project is estimated at over VND5.8 trillion ($241.6 million).

The airport will cover 265 ha in Gio Linh district.

It is designed as a Category 4C civil airport, capable of accommodating narrow-body jets in line with International Civil Aviation Organization standards, and is also a Level 2 military airport.

Its designed capacity will allow it to cater to 5 million passengers and handle 25,500 tons of cargo each year.

The project received approval from the Prime Minister in December, 2021.
