The Mekong Delta’s Can Tho city posted GRDP growth of 3.71 per cent year-on-year in the first half of the year, figures from the city’s Statistics Office show.
Total revenue from the retail sale of products and services reached nearly VND56.6 trillion ($2.38 billion) in the period, a year-on-year increase of 11.37 per cent.
Revenue from the retail sale of goods was estimated at over VND41.6 trillion ($1.75 billion), up 9.39 per cent year-on-year, and accommodation and restaurants more than VND7.56 trillion ($320 million), up 37.53 per cent.
Industrial production in the city still meets many difficulties, in particular low consumption and high input costs for production. The Index of Industrial Production increased 4.09 per cent year-on-year.
In order to boost socio-economic development in the second half, local authorities said they will focus on solutions such as promoting the disbursement of public investment capital, attracting more investors, enhancing trade promotion activities, and tackling difficulties facing businesses.
