The Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam received 140,904 applications claiming industrial property rights in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 7.1 per cent.
With the rising level of interest and awareness about sustainable development at enterprises, it is forecast that the number of applications will continue to rise.
However, the office also warned that disputes relating to intellectual property rights also show signs of increasing and have become more complex.
Localities reported handling 1,430 violations of trademarks in 2022, with fines of over VND18 billion ($753,000) issued.
The figures represent a year-on-year increase of 30 per cent in case numbers and 35 per cent in total fines.
