The People’s Committee of Hanoi has asked the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB) to accelerate urban railway projects, particularly the metro line No 5, which runs between Van Cao - Ngoc Khanh - Lang - Hoa Lac.

At a recent working session held to seek solutions to handle difficulties facing these projects, Chairman of the committee Tran Sy Thanh instructed the MRB to ensure essential conditions to start the construction of the metro line No 5 this year.

According to initial planning, Hanoi’s metro line No 5 has a total length of 38.43km, consisting of 2km elevated, 6.5km underground and 29.93km at ground level.

The total investment capital for the project is estimated at more than VND65 trillion ($2.5 billion).
