Construction of Ho Chi Minh Highway section to get underway

Total investment in 29-km section in Vietnam’s north is $69.3 million.

The Ministry of Transport has approved the construction of the Chu Market - Trung Son Junction section of the Ho Chi Minh Highway.

The 29-km section will connect Dinh Hoa district in northern Thai Nguyen province and Yen Son district in nearby Tuyen Quang province.

It will have a roadbed width of 6 meters, allowing a maximum speed of 60 kph.

Total investment capital is estimated at VND1.665 trillion ($69.3 million), to be sourced from the State budget.

The ministry is coordinating with relevant agencies and localities to prepare for project implementation, particularly site clearance.

Construction is scheduled to begin later this month and be completed by 2025.

The Ho Chi Minh Highway will pass through 30 cities and provinces, from Pac Bo in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang, which borders China, to Dat Mui in the southernmost province of Ca Mau, with a total length of nearly 3,200 km and total investment capital of an estimated VND99.2 trillion ($4.23 billion).
