Construction of longest expressway in Mekong Delta set to begin

Construction of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway, the longest in the Mekong Delta at 188 km, is scheduled to kick off on June 17.

The link will pass through Can Tho city and the three provinces of An Giang, Hau Giang, and Soc Trang.

Total investment is estimated at VND44.3 trillion ($1.9 billion).

The expressway is divided into four sub-projects.

Sub-project 1 crosses through An Giang province and Can Tho city and is over 57 km in length.

Sub-project 2 crosses through Can Tho city and has a total length of over 37 km.

Sub-project 3 will cross through Hau Giang province, at some 37 km in length.

And sub-project 4 crosses through Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces, at 57 km long.

Once completed, the expressway is expected to boost regional and inter-regional connectivity and link economic centers, international border gates, airports, and seaports, contributing to meeting freight and passenger transport demand and facilitating the Mekong Delta’s development.
