Central Quang Tri province plans to hand over land for the investor to start construction of Quang Tri airport in June, according to the provincial People’s Committee.

The airport project covers a total area of more than 265 ha in Gio Linh district and has investment capital estimated at more than VND5.8 trillion (nearly $227 million).

Authorities of Gio Linh district has approved the land compensation price and the compensation is underway, with additional support for affected households.

Quang Tri Airport will be a Level 4C one, according to the classifications of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and can cater to Code E aircraft, serve 5 million passengers and handle 25,500 tons of cargo annually.

The project is expected to be completed after two years of construction.
