The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has given the green light to the construction of 36 rest stops along the eastern North - South Expressway.
Six have received investment and been put into operation, while three others are under construction and the remainder are still being assessed.
The expressway runs from Huu Nghi border gate in northern Lang Son province to the Mekong Delta’s Ca Mau province.
The MoT asked project management boards and the Vietnam Express Corporation (VEC) to make a list of rest stops for construction and select investors in line with legal regulations.
The building of the rest stops must be comprehensive, from conducting planning to calling for investors in line with regulations, ensuring transparency and efficiency, according to MoT.
