The construction of two rest stops along the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway section in south-central Binh Thuan province is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2024, according to the Management Board of Project No. 7 under the Ministry of Transport (MoT).
The project is being appraised by MoT and is expected to be granted approval shortly to select investors.
These stops will cover 5 ha each and include amenities such as gas stations, rest areas, dining options, and bathrooms.
There is currently only one rest stop along the 250km-long Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay - Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao Expressway, and is often overloaded due to the increasing number of vehicles travelling along the route.
In August, the MoT approved a project to build 36 rest stops along the Eastern North-South Expressway, running from northern Lang Son province to southernmost Ca Mau province.
