Construction of Terminal 2 at Cat Bi airport to begin in Q4

Ánh Tuyết -

Total investment estimated in airport totals $101mln.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked authorities in northern Hai Phong city to coordinate with relevant agencies to remove difficulties in site clearance and kick off construction of the T2 terminal at Cat Bi International Airport in the fourth quarter of this year, according to the Office of the Government.

Transfer of land for the project must be completed in the third quarter.

The Prime Minister issued a decision last July to approve the construction of the terminal with total investment capital of over VND2.4 trillion ($101 million).

The T2 terminal will be built with a capacity of catering to about 5 million passengers a year, to be expanded to 10 million, and have a cargo terminal capable of handling 100,000 tons a year.

Upon completion and combined with existing infrastructure at Cat Bi International Airport, these projects will meet the needs of the airport and also serve socio-economic development in Hai Phong.
