Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and President To Lam and Sri Lanka’s President Anura Kumara Dissanayake witnessed the exchange of cooperation agreements between the two countries' ministries and sectors in Colombo on May 8.
The signed documents, as cited by the Government News, include:
1. The Memorandum of Understanding between the People's Police Academy under the Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security and the National Police Academy under Sri Lanka's Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs on cooperation in police training and scientific research;
2. The Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology and Sri Lanka's Ministry of Science and Technology on cooperation in the fields of science and technology;
3. The Memorandum of Understanding between the Vietnam's Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs and Sri Lanka's Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs[A1] ;
4. The Memorandum of Understanding on cultural cooperation between the Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Sri Lanka's Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs; and
5. The Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in information and communications between the Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Sri Lanka's Ministry of Health and Mass Media.
On this occasion, Vietnam donated 100 tons of urea and superphosphate to the Government and people of Sri Lanka.
Vietnam and Sri Lanka share a longstanding traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation, particularly marked by high political trust and strong similarities and close ties in their views on national development, as well as shared cultural and Buddhist values.
Cultural and tourism cooperation, especially spiritual tourism, between the two countries has developed strongly.
