CS Wind Vietnam, a unit of South Korea’s CS Wind Corporation, has inaugurated an $80 million offshore wind tower factory in Phu My 1 Industrial Park situated in Vietnam’s southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
Spanning across 24 hectares, the facility boasts an impressive annual output of wind towers, totaling 360,000 tons, positioning it as the largest in Southeast Asia. Additionally, the facility plans to expand the size of the towers it produces from 7.5 to 10 meters. This expansion initiative is geared towards meeting the escalating demands of the global wind power market, projected to experience a surge of four to five times by the year 2025.
The inaugural ceremony also marked 20 years of CS Wind’s Vietnam factory, which opened on the last day of 2003 and was also CS Wind’s first overseas factory. The plant mainly provides towers for the Southern Pacific, Asian, and U.S. markets. The event was attended by executives from CS Wind's major partners, including Siemens Gamesa and Vestas.
According to the representitive of CS Wind Vietnam, after 20 years of formation and development, from an enterprise with a few dozen employees, producing less than 10 wind tower per week, CS Wind Vietnam has now made significant progress, boasting over 800 staff, engineers, and employees; becoming a reliable wind tower supplier, and its weekly output of wind towers has risen from ten to 120.
Previously, CS Wind opened its first factory in Phu My 1 Industrial Park in 2003. However, because the world's need to buy offshore wind tower continued to increase, the company had to continue to build a new factory to produce offshore wind tower for international customers.
