Cyber security firms earn $17mln in August

Over 1,400 cyber attacks recorded during the month, up 55%.

Vietnam’s cyber security sector posted revenue of VND410 billion ($17 million) in August, a year-on-year increase of 20.2 per cent, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC).

There are 104 cyber security providers now operating in the sector, a 5.1 per cent increase year-on-year, employing over 3,000 people.

Some 1,402 cyber attacks were recorded in August, up 54.6 per cent year-on-year.

The MoIC is collecting feedback from ministries, sectors, and localities on the Prime Minister’s draft Directive on compliance with regulations and enhancing cyber security.

The ministry will issue guidelines on developing response teams on cyber security in certain key fields.

It will also continue to identify fraudulent activities in cyber space and examine the adoption of regulations on ensuring cyber security and protecting personal data and information.
