Central Da Nang city posted positive growth in 2023 despite the difficulties and challenges, the municipal People’s Committee has reported.

Three highlights in the city’s development are strong increases in economic scale, the number of tourists, and investment attraction.

Its economic scale rose by nearly VND10 trillion ($416 million) to more than VND134 trillion (nearly $5.5 billion) compared to 2022. 

The city welcomed 7.4 million tourists during the year, double the figure in 2022. Foreign visitors stood at 1.98 million, a 4.2-fold increase year-on-year. Revenue from catering, accommodation, and travel services reached nearly VND28 trillion ($1.16 billion).

As of November 15, the city had granted investment licenses to and approved adjustments to investment in 40 projects with total registered investment capital of nearly VND46.7 trillion ($1.94 billion).

It attracted over $181 million worth of FDI projects. There were 96 new projects with capital of nearly $150 million, a year-on-year increase of 113 per cent in number and 115 per cent in value.

The city posted GRDP growth of 2.58 per cent year-on-year.
