Central Da Nang city is prioritizing the mobilization of foreign aid into green and circular economy projects, while stepping up the transfer of green technologies and capacity building for public officials and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The strategic shift was highlighted at the international workshop "Foreign NGO Affairs in the New Context Toward a Green Economy, Circular Economy, and Sustainable Development – An Inevitable Global Trend," in Da Nang on October 22.

In his opening remarks, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh, affirmed that the city is channeling incoming aid inflows into green and circular economic models, while accelerating the adoption of clean technologies and upskilling programs for local civil servants and SMEs.

In parallel, the coastal city is focusing on equipping local residents with the practical skills required to run green economic models, aiming to foster a robust innovation and digital transformation ecosystem.

During the workshop, participating delegates exchanged operational insights on executing initiatives in social welfare, biodiversity conservation, green transition, and climate change adaptation.

Vice President of VUFO, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung, stressed the importance of aligning each organization's core competencies with specific municipal development priorities, while underscoring long-term project viability once external funding cycles conclude.

Mr. Hung also recommended that Da Nang proactively identify local requirements and structure priority pipelines right from the ideation phase, creating favorable conditions for international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to co-design and pilot novel models in circular economics, climate resilience, green livelihoods, and climate-tech entrepreneurship.

Amid the global push toward sustainable development, Da Nang is evolving beyond passive aid reception, proactively partnering with foreign NGOs to gain access to cutting-edge green technologies and internationally proven circular economy practices.

To support this shift, the municipal administration has instructed local departments, agencies, and ward-level authorities to accelerate administrative reforms, streamline appraisal and approval workflows, and fast-track aid project implementation to ensure transparency, statutory compliance, and measurable grassroots impact.

Through the workshop, Da Nang reiterated its commitment to cultivating an agile innovation and digital ecosystem in close collaboration with foreign non-governmental partners and the wider international community.
