Central Da Nang city is collecting comments from organizations, individuals, and local communities on the Lien Chieu Port planning project.

Under general planning for Da Nang to 2030 and vision to 2045, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 359/QD-TTg dated March 15, 2021, the city will be organized into 12 subdivisions, including the Lien Chieu Seaport subdivision by the waterfront. The subdivision encompassing Lien Chieu Port, a logistics center, and a coastal urban area will help promote Da Nang as an advanced international logistics hub.

The Lien Chieu Seaport subdivision covers an area of 1,293 ha straddling Lien Chieu and Hoa Vang districts. There will be some 15,810 people in 4,325 households located within the planning area, mostly involved in agricultural production, handicrafts, fisheries, forestry, and commercial services.

As planned, Lien Chieu Port will have a general and container wharf to help reduce cargo volumes passing through Tien Sa Wharf and reduce traffic congestion in the inner city area. The port complex is expected to assume the role of main wharf area in the central region’s international gateway, berthing vessels of up to 100,000 tons and container ships with a capacity of 6,000-8,000 TEUs in the first phase and container ships with a capacity of 18,000 TEUs and 200,000 DWT ships in the long term. The port is expected to have eight container docks with total length of 2,750 meters for vessels with a capacity of 30,000-200,000 DWT.
