Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai received Governor of Gunma Prefecture Yamamoto Ichita, Deputy Director General of Idemitsu Group Sakai Noriaki and Director General of MOECO Harada Hidenori in Tokyo on May 25, according to a report from the Government News.
The meetings took place as part of his working visit to Japan to attend the 29th Future of Asia Forum.
During a reception for the Governor of Gunma, Deputy PM Khai proposed authorities of Gunma Prefecture to call for local enterprises to boost investment in Vietnam in such fields as manufacturing and processing, high-tech agriculture and tourism.
Mr. Ichita affirmed to promote the implementation of commitment and cooperation agreements as well as enhance the friendship and cooperation with localities, sectors and ministries of Vietnam. Businesses from Gunma have invested some $60 million in Vietnam.
He revealed a plan to take a group of enterprises from Gunma to Vietnam this year to boost investment in the fields of high technology and digital transformation.
Meeting with Deputy Director General of Idemitsu Group Sakai Noriaki, Deputy PM Khai applauded the group’s investment and cooperation activities in Vietnam.
He suggested the group to continue expanding investment in Vietnam, particularly in the fields of its strength such as energy transition; and promote technology transfer to help Vietnamese firms to join the regional and global supply chains more deeply.
Mr. Noriaki stressed that the group invested the most in Vietnam among its investment destinations worldwide and confirmed that Idemitsu will expand investment and business in Vietnam in the future.
During the reception for the leader of MOECO, Deputy PM Khai spoke highly of investment plans of the company in Vietnam and proposed the company to further promote business and investment in line with its financial and technological capacity.
Mr. Hidenori affirmed that MOECO will continue coordinating with relevant ministries, agencies and businesses of Vietnam to implement energy projects effectively.
