The Da Nang Department of Science and Technology and the National Startup Support Center (NSSC) held the “Linking Vietnam’s startup ecosystem to connect internationally” event and the “Innovation Alliance, Creative Collaboration to Promote National Open Creative Startup Ecosystem” program on September 30.

2022 is the first year that “National Digital Transformation Day 10/10” will be organized. The “October - Digital Consumption Month” program is an initiative to respond to National Digital Transformation Day and encourage people to use digital channels and consume digital products and services. The Ministry of Information and Communications has set a target that the program will attract 10 million participants.

FPT Semiconductor, a subsidiary of FPT Software designing and manufacturing microchips, officially announced the success of the first production line of microchips for Internet of Things (IoT) products in the medical field on September 28. With Vietnam’s semiconductor industry forecast to exceed $6.16 billion by 2024, FPT Semiconductor aims to become a supplier of Vietnamese-branded chips for companies and corporations.

The Minister of Information and Communications has issued an action plan to implement the National Cybersecurity and Safety Strategy, proactively responding to challenges from cyberspace to 2025 with a vision for 2030. Approved by the Prime Minister in mid-August, the strategy aims to make Vietnam a powerhouse in cyberinformation security.

The Coalition Against Piracy (CAP)’s Asia’s Piracy Survey shows that Vietnam still has a high rate of piracy. Online video piracy is increasingly common, with the number of unauthorized users rising to 15.5 million this year, resulting in losses of $348 million. If the situation is not brought under control, by 2027, the number of users may rise to 19.5 million.

At a meeting with the Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA), Mr. Jean Portier from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said it is necessary for each country to have a legal framework for digital assets, even if it doesn't allow such assets. Vietnam needs to quickly complete a legal framework and issue codes of conduct to further develop blockchain.
