Analysts at the “Accelerating digital transformation: For the benefit of people and businesses” conference on October 9 spoke about the digital transformation process this year and identified the difficulties in the process as well as its core elements.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Tien, Deputy Director of the National Digital Transformation Department at the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC), said the national program has recorded many important achievements in all three pillars: Digital government, Digital economy, and Digital society.

The Department’s latest figures show that, as of June, the share of the digital economy in GDP had reached 10.41 per cent, up from 9.6 per cent at the end of 2021. Such figures are, however, far from the 2025 target of 20 per cent.

Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung, who is also a member of the National Committee on Digital Transformation, said that at its first meeting, the Prime Minister, who is also Chairman of the Committee, emphasized that digital transformation affects all people, so it must put people at the center. The MoIC has already completed the establishment of a national digital conversion portal, at dx.gov.vn.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can find useful information on digital transformation at the smedx.mic.gov.vn website, and can access and experience excellent digital models and platforms for free for six months. Over the past year, 500,000 businesses have accessed the trial and nearly 70,000 have signed a contract to use it.

One of the greatest obstacles facing digital transformation is a lack of digital skills. Mr. Dung said a mass online learning platform may be a solution to this problem, and the MoIC has deployed such a platform at onetouch.mic.gov.vn.

In response to National Digital Transformation Day on October 10, the MoIC also launched Digital Consumption Month, with the participation of hundreds of businesses, to allow people to enjoy the benefits of digital transformation.
