Disbursement of public investment in transport reaches 36%

The Ministry of Transport disbursed nearly VND34.5 trillion ($1.45 billion) in public investment in the first half of 2023, or over 36 per cent of the annual target.

This has helped accelerate the construction of transport projects nationwide, including sub-projects of the Eastern North-South Expressway and the Ho Chi Minh Highway.

The ministry plans to disburse an additional VND21.7 trillion ($915 million) during the third quarter.

Transport has been allocated a record VND94 trillion ($4 billion) in public investment capital this year, up 2.2-fold and 1.7-fold, respectively, compared to 2021 and 2022.

In order to speed up disbursement, the ministry recently requested that all investors and project management boards of transport projects develop detailed disbursement plans.

The goal is to ensure project progress and quality and transparency in disbursement, and prevent waste and shortcomings during implementation.
