Domestic investors withdrew some VND14 trillion ($588 million) from the stock market in 2022, according to FiinTrade.

This was attributed to more attractive bank interest rates, which rose to over 9 per cent per annum at many commercial banks.

Investors also withdrew capital from the stock market to reinvest in production and trade during the post-pandemic period.

Margin lending at 38 securities companies reached VND102.3 trillion ($4.29 billion) last year.

Market liquidity fell substantially. The average transaction value in the last five sessions fell 17 per cent in comparison with the third quarter of 2022 and 63.4 per cent in comparison with the first quarter.
