Authorities of southern Dong Nai province have requested relevant departments and agencies to accelerate the long-running project on building a waste-to-energy plant in Vinh Cuu district.
The Vinh Tan plant requires an estimated investment capital of VND2.3 trillion ($90 million).
The project’s investment policy was approved in September 2022. It will be invested under the public-private partnership format in two phases. In the first phase, the project would treat 800 tons of waste per day, while its power generating capacity reaches 20MW.
Upon the completion of the two phases, its waste treatment capacity will stand at 1,200 tons per day and power generating capacity will reach 30MW.
However, the environmental impact assessment and detailed planning for the project have yet been complete, causing the project’s delay, according to Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Phi.
An estimated 2,000 tons of household waste are discharged in Dong Nai each day.
