Vietnam’s e-commerce sector has continually posted annual growth of 16-30 per cent and is expected to reach $20.5 billion this year, according to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai.
However, the sector also faces a range of difficulties and challenges, particularly in ensuring the traceability of goods, safety and security of personal information, and logistics infrastructure, the Deputy Minister said in his address to a conference on December 1 on the sustainable development of e-commerce.
In order to boost the sector’s development, Director of the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Le Hoang Oanh, suggested maintaining its stable growth, building and implementing legal corridors and policies, and harmonizing the interests of related parties, from producers to e-commerce platform providers, service providers, and consumers.
She also proposed ensuring regional links in e-commerce development, especially in investing and developing logistics infrastructure, technology infrastructure, and human resources training.
