The government has asked that four component projects of the eastern section of the North-South Expressway be put into use before the end of the year.

The four component projects are Mai Son - National Highway No. 45, Cam Lo - La Son, Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay, and are key national projects that will play a significant role in accelerating national socio-economic development, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Danh Huy told the government’s regular press briefing for November on December 1.

“Under the drastic direction of the government and the Ministry of Transport, the Cam Lo - La Son section is 96.8 per cent completed and will be put into use during December,” he said.

The three other projects are on schedule, he said, adding that overall progress stands at 70 per cent of the target. All-out efforts are being made to ensure the routes are open to traffic by December 31, with support works to be completed by April 30, 2023.

According to the ministry, work on projects came to a halt due to Covid-19 and only 17 per cent were finished in 2021, so major works continued in 2022. Projects also faced difficulties as a result of increased material prices. The government has introduced two resolutions to help resolve obstacles and accelerate progress.

Deputy Minister Huy said project management boards, consultants, and supervisors are working around the clock to monitor the quality of materials to ensure project quality and progress.
