Vietnamese film and TV program production companies have submitted a petition to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee regarding reopening as soon as possible.

According to the petition, 20 businesses in the film and TV program production industry are facing many difficulties and are even at risk of bankruptcy after ceasing operations because of Covid-19.

In a recent document sent to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the 20 businesses expressed a wish to be permitted to restore production and business safely in the context of the new circumstances.

To remove the difficulties and create appropriate conditions, they propose they restart the pre-production of movies and TV shows online and produce and film in isolated areas such as film studios, inactive ecotourism areas, and unpopulated housing areas.

The businesses committed to closely following anti-pandemic regulations during operations.

A backlog of investment capital has also appeared in film and TV projects due to the pandemic, together with widespread unemployment in the industry.
