Exports of digital products hit $64.8 bln in 1H

Vietnam’s exports of digital products earned $64.8 billion in the first six months of the year, marking a year-on-year growth of 23%, figures from the General Department of Vietnam Customs show.

The information was quoted by the Government News as revealing at the ninth meeting of the National Committee on Digital Transformation chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 10.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) enterprises registered a total revenue of over VND1.9 quadrillion ($74.7 billion) during the period, a significant increase of 26% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Many leading global tech groups have committed to invest or expand investment in Vietnam, particularly in the new fields such as electronics, chip semiconductor, research and development and AI.

At the meeting, PM Chinh highlighted that as digital transformation has become an inevitable trend and a strategic choice, the direction and management of the process has been carried out in a harmonious manner, bringing more practical and positive results over the past time.

PM Chinh asked relevant ministries, agencies and localities to prioritize resources, rolled out harmonious digital transformation measures, and strive to complete and exceed the targets set in the national digital transformation program, as well as the committee’s action plans and strategies on the development of the digital Government, economy, society and database.

He requested that all of the public services will be handled online.
