Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the inauguration of National Data Centre No. 1 and its national database system at the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in Hanoi on August 18.

Spanning more than 20 hectares, the facility is among the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. It is also the first national-level data centre in Vietnam to receive top-tier international certifications, meeting the highest standards for disaster resilience, security, and safety.

Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, the centre and its national database system are described as the “heart” of the country’s digital transformation and the “brain” driving an era of prosperous national development.

In his remarks, Prime Minister Chinh underscored that the project’s greatest achievement lies in its direct benefits for citizens and businesses. The centre will help reduce administrative processing times, support production and business growth, and enhance overall quality of life.

He emphasized that data should be treated as a strategic resource and a new national asset, crucial for policymaking, sustainable socio-economic development, safeguarding national defence and security, and strengthening Vietnam’s global competitiveness. The centre, he noted, must meet advanced international benchmarks, ensure the highest security standards, and promote the development of artificial intelligence—especially homegrown Vietnamese AI.
