Thi Nguyễn -

The proposed policy expected to take effect from January, 2026.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has proposed to extend the agricultural land use tax exemption policy by five years more, from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2030.

The policy is part of a draft resolution of the National Assembly on agricultural land use tax exemption which is being built by the MoF.

It is aimed at encouraging investment in agriculture, raising product value and improving farmers’ living conditions, according to the ministry.

The total agricultural land use tax reduction and exemption value is estimated at around VND7.5 trillion ($293 million) per year.

Agricultural land accounts for 39% of the country's total natural land area, equivalent to over 13 million ha.

The current policy for agricultural land use tax reduction and exemption will expire by the end of December 31, 2025.
