The Government has decided to establish a free trade zone (FTZ) in central Da Nang city, the first of its kind in Vietnam.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh on June 13 signed Prime Ministerial Decision No. 1142/QD-TTg on the establishment of the FTZ.
Covering an area of around 1,881ha, the FTZ features functional areas covering production-logistics, trade-services, digital technology industries, innovation, and others as regulated by law.
The Free Trade Zone in Da Nang City is assigned to the Da Nang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zones Authority (DHPIZA) as the agency performing the function of direct state management in this area according to the "one-stop, on-site" model.
The FTZ will be developed with modern and synchronized infrastructure across manufacturing, trade, logistics, technology, and high-quality services. It aims to become a regional economic hub and a strategic growth engine for central Vietnam and the country as a whole in the new development context.
In the long term, the zone is expected to become a crucial link in the global and Asia-Pacific supply chain networks. It will function as a manufacturing center and international goods transshipment hub, closely connected to Lien Chieu Port, Danang International Airport, and the East–West Economic Corridor.
The zone will be developed in alignment with the planned Danang International Financial Center, forming a modern, smart, and highly competitive economic ecosystem. This will contribute to promoting Vietnam’s regional and international standing in the context of globalization.
