The first Made-in-Vietnam weather radar satellite is expected to be launched into orbit in 2025, according to the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
The LOTUSat-1 is scheduled to go into space between December 2024 and February 2025 and will operate for five years.
Radar satellites are able to take photos in all weather conditions, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Space Center Le Xuan Huy said at a recent press briefing on the results of scientific and technological research and innovation in Vietnam during 2023.
The ground control system for the launch will be completed by September this year at Hanoi’s Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park.
