Four Vietnam Airlines’ flight attendants have been detained for allegedly transporting 11.4 kilograms of ecstasy and methamphetamine from France to Vietnam on a flight on which they were on duty, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department.

They were crew members on flight VN10 departing from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and landing at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City at 8.10 am on March 16.

Upon landing, customs officials at the airport discovered abnormalities in the four flight attendants’ luggage, and found 11.4 kilograms of ecstasy and meth in toothpaste tubes.

They included 8.4 kilograms of grey tablets and 3.08 kilograms of white powder, both of which are drugs.

The flight attendants and the drugs were handed over to the Drug Crime Investigation Division at Ho Chi Minh City Police for further investigation.

Vietnam Airlines announced on March 17 it had suspended the four flight attendants and is working with authorities on the case.
