Vietnam is a leading destination for investment by many French enterprises after the French Government set a target of building a stronger relationship with the country, Executive Director of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (CCIFV), Mr. Adam Koulaksezian, told the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition 2022 held in Ho Chi Minh City recently.
Mr. Koulaksezian said all 50 French enterprises visiting Vietnam recently expressed an interest in Vietnam’s sustainability.
When doing business in the country, French companies set standards and criteria for green and sustainable development. For example, the healthcare company Sanofi has used rice husk biomass energy and green and clean technologies to contribute to sustainability in Vietnam.
“Because Vietnam is currently a top concern of French businesses, the more Vietnam creates favorable investment mechanisms for them, the greater the capital flows from France into Vietnam will be,” Mr. Koulaksezian said.
CCIFV President Thibaut Giroux said the Chamber has made great efforts and been a pioneer in developing green economic values.
These values have become “compulsory” in developing a sustainable economy in Vietnam in particular and in the world in general, he said.
Vietnam and France will celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations next year, so enterprises from both countries should strengthen cooperation and actively adopt Corporate Social Responsibility measures to reach sustainable economic development targets.
Enterprises should also attach much importance to Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) frameworks to focus on green economic development, actively promoting social values for a sustainable economy.
More than 300 French enterprises are doing business in Vietnam in a variety of fields. And France is looking forward to investing in 16 of the 21 areas prioritized for investment in Vietnam.
