Government resolution identifies tasks in socio-economic development plan

Under Government Resolution No. 1/NQ-CP, dated January 5, nine major tasks and solutions have been outlined for the implementation of the 2024 socio-economic development plan, according to a report from the Government News.

First, the government will give priority to maintaining macro-economic stability, controlling inflation, and ensuring major balances in the economy. It will pursue an active monetary policy and proper fiscal policy in favor of macro-economic stabilization and growth. Credit organizations are encouraged to cut costs and simplify lending procedures, and to reduce lending rates to support economic growth.

Second, the government will continue reviewing and perfecting institutions, laws, mechanisms, and policies while improving legal enforcement capacity and streamlining administrative procedures and business conditions, in accordance with related laws, including the Land Law (amended), the Law on Credit Organizations (amended), and the Law on the Promulgation of Normative Documents (amended), which are expected to be passed by the National Assembly this year.

Third, it will speed up strategic infrastructure development, with a focus on expressways, airports, urban infrastructure, and inter-regional infrastructure.

Specifically, the government will accelerate the construction of sections of the Eastern North - South Expressway, the Capital Region’s Ring Road No. 4, Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road No. 3, and the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot, Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, and Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressways, as well as the construction of Long Thanh International Airport and Terminal 3 at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport, among others.

Fourth, the government will continue restructuring the economy in association with growth model transformation, improving the country’s competitiveness, fostering the digital economy, the green economy, the circular economy, and e-commerce, and renewing existing growth drivers and fully tapping new growth drivers.

Fifth, it will focus on advancing the development of a high-quality workforce, in particular a workforce for bio-technology, AI, semiconductors, and chips, while stepping up innovation.

Sixth, the government targets promoting the comprehensive development of culture in harmonious combination with economic growth, and continuing with innovating and improving the quality of social policies.

Seventh, it will proactively cope with climate change, ensure water resource security, and strengthen management over natural resources and the environment.

Eighth, the government will accelerate region-to-region links, particularly in transport infrastructure and energy.

And ninth, it will continue streamlining the State apparatus, accelerating the fight against corruption and tightening administrative discipline.
