Vietnam sets roadmap to boost logistics sector through 2035

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has outlined an implementation roadmap for the national logistics development strategy for 2025–2035, with a vision to 2050, which was approved by the Prime Minister in October 2025.

The plan aims to strengthen Vietnam’s position in global value chains and enhance linkages between production, trade and modern distribution systems.

To develop logistics into a key economic sector, the ministry has identified nine priority groups of tasks and solutions. These include improving the legal framework and state management efficiency, while investing in modern, integrated logistics infrastructure.

The plan also emphasizes strengthening regional connectivity to better link production and consumption areas, reduce intermediaries and cut costs. Efforts will focus on building stable cargo sources and expanding logistics markets in line with industrial restructuring, domestic distribution and export growth.

Improving the competitiveness of Vietnamese logistics firms is another priority, with a focus on developing large-scale companies capable of providing integrated services and participating more deeply in regional and global supply chains.

Digital transformation and green transition are key pillars, including the development of digital platforms, national logistics databases and the application of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data.

The ministry will also prioritize workforce development, promote the role of industry associations and enhance policy coordination, market forecasting and communications to ensure effective implementation of the strategy.
