Party General Secretary To Lam chaired a meeting with relevant ministries, agencies and sectors on March 17 in Hanoi to discuss international trade relations and connectivity with key partners amid the current global geopolitical and geo-economic landscape.

He stressed the need to strike a balance between promoting cooperation and managing risks, while linking trade with technological upgrading, modern equipment and high-quality investment.

He also highlighted the importance of stricter requirements on localisation rates, technology transfer and enhancing the position of Vietnamese enterprises in global production chains.

The Party leader called for greater focus on implementing key orientations, including accelerating sustainable exports, strengthening domestic production capacity and diversifying import-export markets.

In addition, he requested a review of commodity flows and the development of substantive and balanced industrial cooperation plans aimed at increasing localization rates and added value for Vietnamese industrial products.
