Guangxi province in China remains one of the key markets for Vietnamese exporters, a conference on March 8 seeking measures to promote trade in agriculture and aquatic products between Vietnam and the province heard.
It accounts for nearly 50 per cent of the total value of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries exports from Vietnam to China and is third in the country in terms of import volumes of Vietnamese seafood, after Guangdong and Zhenjiang.
Vietnam is the leading source of seafood in Guangxi, accounting for 69 per cent of the province’s volume and 75 per cent of its value.
In order to facilitate trade between the two countries, particularly via border gates, a Vietnam seafood trading center is expected to be established in Guangxi’s Fangchenggang city, according to Su Wanguang, Vice President of the China - Vietnam Business Association in Guangxi.
A seafood cold storage facility with a capacity of 600,000 tons of seafood will also be built.
