Ha Tinh province is advancing the development of sustainable tourism products and a circular economy model, a recent scientific workshop on sustainable green tourism development heard.
The workshop underscored Ha Tinh’s significant tourism potential, with diverse natural resources such as coastal areas, forests, lakes, and rivers alongside notable cultural heritage assets.
Home to five UNESCO-recognized cultural heritages - two Intangible Cultural Heritages of Humanity and three Memory of the World Registers for Asia and the Pacific - the province enjoys a rich foundation for developing sustainable green tourism.
Despite these advantages, Ha Tinh’s tourism sector is yet to fully meet expectations, particularly in sustainable green tourism development. This presents both a challenge and an opportunity for Ha Tinh to learn from other regions and develop bio-balanced tourism products and circular economy models.
Leaders of the provincial People’s Committee acknowledge the challenges faced in developing and utilizing natural resources, including local overcrowding, seasonality, and the impacts of climate change.
Based on the presentations, the workshop proposed six solutions: Reviewing the tourism master plan in light of domestic and international trends to develop large-scale tourism areas; Calling for investment and compiling a specific investment catalog; Developing tourism human resources, especially in green tourism; Establishing specific criteria for green tourism products; Evaluating the role of tourism and green tourism promotion to develop effective strategies and attract tourists nationwide; and Implementing digital transformation in tourism.
